Meet the Doctors

Rick DeCraene
Dr. DeCraene has been practicing veterinary medicine since 1990.
He joined Wise Road Animal Hospital in 2000. A native of Iowa, Dr. DeCraene grew up in the Davenport area and attended Iowa State University where he majored in Microbiology and received his doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1990.
In his free time, Dr. DeCraene enjoys photography, music and hiking National parks with his family. You can find his Shetland Sheepdog "Buster" gracing the pages of our website.
Dr. DeCraene is a member of The Society of Phi Zeta (the Honor Society of Veterinary Medicine), Omega Tau Sigma (professional veterinary fraternity), the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association (ISVMA), and the Chicagoland Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA).

Carla Pfeiffer
Dr. Pfeiffer has worked at Wise Road Animal Hospital since 2009. She grew up on the east coast in Rhode Island and New York before her family moved to Illinois then Indiana. Her undergraduate degree was obtained from Purdue University and her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois in Champaign in 2005. Dr. Pfeiffer is an USDA/APHIS accredited Veterinarian.
While she has owned dogs, cats, rabbits and other exotic pets, currently Dr. Pfeiffer has 3 cats, Timmy, Ernst and Sneaky who make appearances in our webpages. Dr. Pfeiffer understands that a happy pet is not only physically healthy but also mentally well-adjusted and socially well-behaved. Her interests include behavioral medicine and basic training.
Dr. Pfeiffer is a member of the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA), the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association (ISVMA), the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Association for Women Veterinarians (AWV).
Dr. Pfeiffer and her husband enjoy spending as much time as possible with their son, Patrick.
